Back to the basics

...''Discipline''. Yes indeed, that's the word. This is almost what winning Hold'em is all about. If I had the iron will to play only the best hands before the flop, my bankroll could have grown at a rate of $15-20/hr. No matter, I'll eventually get there.

On the other hand, I find it disappointing to re-raise once a while. Displaying supremacy in excess might put your opponent on the defensive, causing an early fold. I have flushed my AA down the drain in this way a few times.

SAD - Seasonal Affective Disorder

I notice the weather doesn't agree with me today. This has incited me to talk about to how a cloudy sky could influence our mood. In a greater extent, this may even render some people genuinely sick. This is known as SAD (Seasonal Affective disorder). It's a form of depression that occurs in winter time when sunlight is often absent. In Alaska, as much as 10% of its population runs into this problem.

The associated symptoms are:
  • Excessive sleeping without feeling replenish; day time drowsiness.
  • Fatigue: everything seems difficult; irritability; difficulty to concentrate
  • Depression: feeling anxious, guilty, hopeless
  • Excessive eating: increased liking for sugar; weight gain
  • Loss of libido: decreased sexual desire
  • Problem with digestion; joint pain
I won't go into details explaining how all this happen (Ask me if you want to know, it involves a lot of physiology).

Solution: Phototherapy. Studies show a 60-70% efficacy in most cases. Early in the morning, the patient sit 1-2 fts away from a fluorescent light box of 10,000 lux for 30-45 mins. To do daily from September to April.

Intro

I hate to admit this, but my life has become fairly monotone ever since my classes came to an end. And it has already been two months I've been somewhat losing contact with the rest of the world. Via this blog, I'll share some of my interesting thoughts (ethical to disclose of course) with other beings like you. Hopefully, you may care enough to share a piece of yours as well.

Most of my posts will revolve around ideas regarding health and wealth. I'm not too keen at both, but I believe a steady endeavor to learn will augment our life quality. Well, now time to ''faire le dodo''.
